I have a lot of problems with this post. I hate people who read plays by Shakespeare and take nothing but this out of it. Have you been in love? Felt the inspiration and the longing you get when you’re in it? How you want to do things like marry them and spend the rest of your life with them. And don’t fucking blame their love for the deaths in this play. Mercutio dies because of the fucking “ANCIENT GRUDGE” mentioned in the first fucking lines of the play. These families have feuded for decades, centuries even. These kids know nothing but this feud. They have grown up with it and it is fact. Tybalt dies for the exact same reason. Paris is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And, finally, the two lovers die because they physically cannot be together in this life. Their families only find peace after their deaths. Fuck people who quantify art.
